5. Hiding the Write-in Products area

Certain clients like to ensure that Salespeople cannot add Write-in Product lines to a Quote or Order – unfortunately MSCRM does not provide a Security Setting to restrict Write-in Products specifically without also closing off a Salepeople’s ability to override default pricing for known products.

To implement this in MSCRM, we then need to use a simple JavaScript statement on the onLoad event to hide the NavBar item showing ‘Write-in Products’. This also hides the option to add ‘Write-in’ Products and so prevents Salespeople from adding Write-in Product lines without losing the ability to override the pricing of Existing Product Lines.

// Hide Write-in Products
document.getElementById("navWriteInProducts").style.display = "none";

This script will function for both the Quote or Order entities in MSCRM.
